I remember Márton character at the famous work of Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf, and also TV cartoon series, The Wonderful Adventures of Nils, in original, Nils Holgerssons underbara resa genom Sverige, 1906.
This is not Márton!... This is a funny white duck at the half frozen pond at snowy Bolu Mountains near a motel. It lives with duck family. They can't fly away like Márton and geese because they are too heavy to fly. However they are well fed and protected... The same dilemma as Selma Lagerlöf described.

Oscar Wild(e) wird heute ein Jahr alt und bekommt natürlich eine eigene Kamera geschenkt. Sie scheint ihm zu gefallen. (Danke für die freundliche Unterstützung des Ideengebers Klaus!) - Today Oscar has birthday and now he´s one year old. He receives of course as present his own camera and I think, he likes it! (Thanks very much to Klaus for the funny idea!)

The first full day I was in Lyon, my friend took me on a safari not in Africa but in the Parc de la Tête d'Or. Not only do they have huge fields of grass and blooming gardens, the park has a small zoo inside! This elephant was one of its inhabitants. I absolutely love his/her eyes and cracked skin.
This shot looks best large and in black!

Conservators and curators took 35 animal mummies to the Animal Medical Center in Manhattan for CT scanning. The instagram shots are photos from the live feed that day and the better shots that follow in the set were uploaded after the day's events.

I don't really know what the aim behind this was, but as we were buying boots this morning two people dressed in animal suits appeared in the store. As we left they took part in this photo opportunity for some kind of marketing outside the store.
Why the costumes? No idea (although my 8 year old gave them a very odd look). Why the handstand? No idea either.
So, if you want a career in marketing you'd better be up for this sort of thing I suppose!

I don't know if they have anything like 4-H in other countries. My mother is an avowed liar and told me as a girl that I couldn't join because I didn't have any siblings. This is, of couse, not true.
There is very little point being upset about the practical experience I missed out on, not to mention the valuable contacts that would be serving me now. The past is old and having no children of my own, I don't get an opinion on the matter.
Still, being an outsider of sorts in my second chosen profession, I can see now that 4-H fosters a sort of gang mentality among those who farm later in life. It's a hard crust to break through.
However, those farmers are getting old. Like the past, when they're gone, it'll be my turn.

The rock squirrel; the most dangerous animal in Grand Canyon National Park. Rock squirrels commonly bite visitors who are feeding them, or who are just holding their finger out towards them. Park rangers regularly tell visitors that squirrels are the most dangerous animal in the park because squirrel bites are so frequent.
Squirrels that are fed by people become dependent on human food, and may lose their natural fear of humans and their ability to forage for natural foods. There is a lot of truth to the saying, “a fed animal is a dead animal.” In addition to losing their foraging ability, animals that have been fed are less likely to survive other reasons. Animals that have been fed from cars congregate near roadways and are at a high risk of being killed by vehicle collisions.
There are other serious hazards associated with wildlife. Numerous species, including rodents, squirrels, coyotes, fox, bats, and mountain lions, may carry infectious diseases such as Hantavirus, rabies, or plague. In some situations, these diseases may be transmitted through simple contact, such as touching or feeding wildlife. In recent years, Hantavirus, rabies and plague all have been documented in the park’s wildlife populations. NPS photo by Michael Quinn

Alvene is Alvin's wife. She's just as plump as her husband is I packin' some serious breasts for the bachelor squirrels on the block to gawk at. We've grown to love Alvin and Alvene especially since they've learned how to take whole slices of bread up into the trees and give us belly laughs.

James's Flamingo

The James's Flamingo (Phoenicopterus jamesi), also known as the Puna Flamingo, is a South American flamingo, named for Harry Berkeley James. It breeds on the high Andean plateaus of Peru, Chile, Bolivia and Argentina. It is related to the Andean Flamingo, and the two are often placed in the genus Phoenicoparrus.
It is a small and delicate flamingo, approximately 3 feet in height. Its plumage is pale pink, with bright carmine streaks around the neck and on the back. When perched a small amount of black can be seen in the wings. There is bright red skin around the eye. The legs are brick-red and the bill is bright yellow with a black tip. Immature birds are greyish.
James's Flamingo is similar to other South American flamingoes, but the Chilean Flamingo is pinker, with a longer bill without yellow, and the Andean Flamingo is larger with more black in the wings and bill, and yellow legs.
